INSULATION RESOURCE

Insulation Takeoff Checklist

Part checklist, part takeoff worksheet. Record where the insulation goes and what the project calls for, check what you reviewed, and keep access, cavity, coordination, and ordering assumptions in one place.

Estimating / pre-takeoff worksheet.

Use the write-in fields to record what you are carrying and the checkboxes to confirm what you reviewed. A checked box means the item was considered for this estimate - not that it is required on every project. This worksheet does not select an R-value, product, vapor-retarder strategy, tested assembly, or code requirement for you.

CHECKLIST DETAILS

Fill it out as you review the takeoff.

No account. Nothing to set up.

01

Area & Application

Record where the insulation goes and the quantity basis you are carrying. Keep different applications separate when their products or requirements differ.

Match the plans, partition schedule, reflected ceiling plan, sections, and details.

02

Product & Performance Requirements

Capture what the documents actually specify. BidSimp should remind you to find the requirement, not decide the insulation product or code value for you.

03

Openings & Cavity Conditions

Net square footage is only part of the takeoff. Check the cavity geometry, openings, obstructions, and irregular areas that affect cuts and labor.

04

Assemblies & Special Conditions

Some insulation is part of a tested, acoustic, exterior, or specialty assembly. Record the governing condition rather than treating every square foot the same.

05

Access & Field Conditions

Insulation can be simple material but awkward labor. Record the height, plenum, access, and sequencing conditions that can change production.

06

Coordination

Confirm who installs what and when. Insulation often gets trapped between framing, MEP rough-in, firestopping, backing, and board installation.

07

Scope, Packaging & Allowances

Finish the takeoff with the allowance, packaging assumptions, exclusions, and unanswered questions that affect what you actually buy and carry.

Before you finish the takeoff

Verify the drawings, specifications, current addenda, product data, tested assemblies where applicable, manufacturer instructions, field conditions, and applicable project/code requirements. Project-specific requirements govern. This worksheet is an estimating reminder only and does not mean every listed item is required.

Estimate responsibly. BidSimp is an estimating aid and does not select or validate insulation products, R-values, thicknesses, facings, package coverage, assemblies, or code requirements. Verify areas, openings, products, specifications, tested assemblies, field conditions, and project documents before purchasing materials, bidding, or performing work. Terms & Disclaimer
