Current metal framing logic

Walls and soffits start with spacing-based framing quantities, then apply the allowance you choose. The soffit section assumes stud-and-track framing; drywall grid soffits are intentionally kept separate. Wall-run ends, openings, intersections, special soffit bracing, engineered conditions, and stock-length cut optimization are not separately counted. Soffit piece counts are shown by cut length, while the supplier summary reports the combined stud material in LF. Complex U-shaped and beam box-out soffits are intentionally outside this first soffit version.

HOW IT WORKS

Build multiple wall types and add soffit types on the same takeoff. Choose stud size, gauge, spacing, track conditions, soffit geometry, and the estimating allowance you want to carry.

Studs by spacing

BidSimp starts with the spacing-based stud quantity for 12", 16" or 24" on-center framing, then applies the allowance you select. That keeps the baseline calculation visible instead of hiding it inside a black box.

Standard or slip track

Standard top track carries regular track at both top and bottom. Slip / deflection track separates the top condition so the supplier summary can show regular track and slip track independently.

Simple soffit geometry

Simple Drop Soffits calculate top track, vertical stud pieces, and bottom track. Wall-Return Soffits add horizontal return pieces, wall track, and a clear corner choice: 90° angle, double track, or Other / Custom. Piece counts stay visible while the supplier summary rolls soffit stud material into LF.
