METAL FRAMING RESOURCE

Metal Framing Takeoff Checklist

Part checklist, part takeoff worksheet. Record the wall and framing conditions you are carrying, check what you reviewed, and keep the easy-to-miss scope in one place before you wrap up the estimate.

Estimating / pre-takeoff worksheet.

Use the write-in fields to record what you are carrying and the checkboxes to confirm what you reviewed. A checked box means the item was considered for this estimate - not that it is required on every project. Structural / engineered CFS items are prompts to review the project design, not instructions for sizing or engineering framing.

CHECKLIST DETAILS

Fill it out as you review the takeoff.

No account. Nothing to set up.

01

Wall Types & Framing

Record the basic wall type you are carrying. Use a separate copy for another wall type when that keeps the takeoff clearer.

Match the partition schedule, plans, sections, and details.

02

Openings & Reinforcement

Make sure openings and their framing details are not hidden inside the wall LF.

03

Structure & Deflection

Confirm what the wall meets above and how the top-of-wall condition is detailed.

04

Bridging & Bracing

Do not assume one universal method. Record the specified bridging / bracing system and the details that go with it.

05

Soffits & Miscellaneous Framing

Catch the framing that is easy to miss when the wall takeoff is the main focus.

Review where applicable

06

Access & Field Conditions

Record what changes the labor, access, staging, or sequence even when it does not change the stud count.

Labor / access review

07

Coordination

Review the other trades and finish conditions that create extra framing, backing, interruptions, or scope questions.

08

Structural / Engineered CFS - Additional Review

If the framing is load-bearing, exterior, curtain-wall, or otherwise engineered, use this section to capture the project-specific design information. BidSimp does not size or design structural framing.

09

Scope, Allowances & Notes

Finish the takeoff by writing down what you carried, what you did not, and what still needs an answer.

Before you finish the takeoff

Verify the drawings, specifications, current addenda, manufacturer instructions, tested assemblies and engineering details where applicable, field conditions, and applicable project/code requirements. Project-specific requirements govern. This worksheet is an estimating reminder only and does not mean every listed item is required.

Estimate responsibly. BidSimp is an estimating aid. Verify quantities, member sizes, thicknesses, spacing, connection requirements, assemblies, specifications, field conditions, project documents, and engineered requirements where applicable before purchasing materials, bidding, or performing work.
