The small demo saw I reach for when a full-size Sawzall is more drama than I need.
Light, easy to control, and perfect for a lot of drywall patch and light-demo work. I do not reach for it when I need serious power through thick material.

WHY IT MADE THE LIST
Why this tool stayed in my rotation.
A full-size reciprocating saw is great when you actually need a full-size reciprocating saw. The problem is that a lot of drywall and patch work does not need that much tool. That is where the M12 FUEL Hackzall fits for me.
I have used this tool since the beginning of my career for cutting drywall, cleaning up patches, and doing light demolition. It feels good in one hand, it is easy to move around, and it lets me make a cut without turning a small repair into a full demolition setup.

What I actually use it for.
I especially like it for opening drywall or cleaning the edge of an existing patch. In a lot of those situations, I use it in place of a keyhole saw because it is faster while still feeling manageable.
The value is not that it replaces every reciprocating saw. The value is that it covers the smaller work where a larger saw feels clumsy, heavy, or unnecessarily aggressive.
Why I like it.
It is light and comfortable in the hand. The size makes it easy to control, and the cut feels clean without the drama of a full-size Sawzall.
For the work I use it on, that control matters more than having the most power available. I want to open the board or clean the patch, not destroy everything behind it.
THE HONEST PART
What I do not like.
The limitation is power. I would not choose this when I am trying to work through thicker material like 2x4 lumber or plywood. That is where the small format stops being an advantage and I want a more powerful saw.
How long I have used it.
I have used this tool since the beginning of my career. It has stayed in my rotation because the category never disappeared. There is always another patch, opening, or small demo cut where I want something more capable than a hand saw but smaller than a full-size reciprocating saw.
MY VERDICT
Would I recommend it?
I absolutely recommend it for drywall, patching, and light demo. The key is buying it for the work it is good at. If you expect it to replace a larger saw on heavy material, you are asking the wrong tool to do the job.
