Whole kits
kits- Area across all coats
- sq ft-coats

- sq ft-coats
Assumes the same product and yield for every coat. Estimate primer, differing base/top coats, repairs, broadcast aggregate and separate components independently. Do not change mixing ratios; follow pot-life and film-thickness requirements.
How to Use This Calculator
Estimate whole epoxy kits from floor area, coat count, and product coverage per kit per coat.
Inputs and where to find them
Measured area (sq ft). Measure the floor surface receiving this coating. Do not multiply by the number of coats here; that is entered separately. Repairs, vertical surfaces and areas receiving a different coating system should be estimated separately.
Number of identical coats. Enter the whole number of coats using this same product and coverage rate. Each coat creates another pass over the floor. Primer, base coats and topcoats with different yields need separate estimates.
Coverage per kit per coat (sq ft). Use the square feet covered by one complete kit for one coat at the required film thickness. Check the product’s technical information and substrate conditions. Kit coverage is not a gallon quantity, and mixing ratios must not be changed to extend coverage.
Allowance (%). Enter the percentage you want to add for cutting, handling loss or other conditions specific to this work. Apply it to the measured quantity rather than enlarging the measurements as well. The suggested value is editable, not a universal recommendation; enter zero when no allowance is needed.
Results, example and assumptions
Square-foot-coats describe repeated coating passes over the same floor. Two coats over 500 square feet require 1,000 square-foot-coats before allowance; the physical floor is still 500 square feet. Kits round the allowance-adjusted coverage demand upward using the per-coat kit yield. The results do not calculate gallons or separate components.
Coated area = floor area × number of coats. Required coverage = coated area × allowance factor. Kits = ceil(required coverage ÷ single-coat kit coverage).
Worked example: 500 sq ft × 2 coats × 1.10 = 1,100 sq ft-coats. With 250 sq ft per kit per coat, buy 5 kits.
