Field Measurement Pad

Record labeled dimensions by room or area, keep fractional inches exact, and print clear field measurement sheets.

Areas & measurements

Enter 10'-6 1/4", 6 1/2", or 3/4". Unitless values are inches. Fractions are kept exactly; equivalent fractions are simplified.

How to Use the Field Measurement Pad

A construction measurement sheet for the jobsite

Use this contractor measurement notebook when you need a clear record of what you measured, where you measured it, and what to check later. A room measurement sheet is useful for walkthroughs, field verification, and communicating dimensions to the next person on the job.

Recording Measurements

Enter a Measurement Sheet Name, or leave it blank to use Untitled Measurement Sheet when you save or export. Add an area such as Conference Room, then choose Add Measurement. Give each dimension a specific label: North Wall, Door Opening, or Ceiling Height. Add another measurement from the bottom of the same area as you work around the room.

Feet, Inches, and Fractions

Enter dimensions such as 10'-6 1/4", 6 1/2", or 3/4". A value without units means inches: 24 is two feet. The field measurement tool keeps fractions exact, including 1/32 inch and equivalent fractions such as 2/64. The display simplifies equivalent fractions without rounding the dimension. Your original input remains editable.

Organizing a Jobsite Measurement Sheet

For an office renovation, create a Conference Room area with North Wall at 18'-6 1/4", South Wall at 18'-5 7/8", and Ceiling Height at 9'-2 1/2". Create a separate Corridor area with Corridor Length at 42'-8 3/8". Note whether a measurement is to framing or finished surfaces. Duplicate similar entries, then edit their labels and dimensions; move entries to match the order of your walkthrough.

Measurement Types

The optional Measurement Type classifies an entry as General, Length, Width, Height, Depth, Clearance, Diagonal, or Other. For example, label a measurement Door Opening and choose Width. The classification is included in saved records and outputs. It does not change units, dimensions, precision, or calculations. Older entries without a type display General.

Saving and Sharing

Project Details (Optional) holds the job, location, and general notes. Collapsing it keeps all values. Guest edits recover in this browser when storage is available; they are not cloud backups. Log in and explicitly save to your account to access measurement sheets from the Dashboard or another device. A guest draft is copied into an account only when you choose that action.

Copy Measurements produces complete text notes. Print / Save as PDF produces a grouped field record with labels, types, exact dimensions, and notes. In the print dialog, disable browser headers and footers for a clean sheet. If a save fails, keep the draft and retry. If another device has saved a newer version, keep a separate copy or explicitly open the account version.

What This Tool Does Not Calculate

This is a jobsite measurement log, not an automatic takeoff. It does not multiply length by width, calculate square footage, determine material quantities, or transfer dimensions into estimates. Use Field Counter for counts and Material Request Builder to prepare a manual supplier request.
