My field-used DEWALT DWE575 7-1/4-inch corded circular saw stored with framing material. DOOR UNDERCUT SAW

DEWALT DWE575 7-1/4 in. Lightweight Circular Saw

For door undercuts and rough wood cuts, I like the steady corded power, stable base, and predictable blade reference.

My field-used DEWALT DWHT43224 24-inch box beam level photographed with metal framing material. HEADER LEVEL

DEWALT DWHT43224 Box Beam Level (24 Inch)

I love this for leveling door headers. The magnets are strong and it can take some hits. It's a little bulky, but it's built for abuse.

James's DEWALT green-line laser with visible field wear. MY FAVORITE LASER

DEWALT 3 × 360 Green Line Laser

My favorite all-around laser. I use it to level the legs on hollow metal doors. The green lines are easy to see and I trust it.

DOOR HANDING ARCADE GUIDE

Read the hinge and swing before the wall reaches you.

The worker approaches every gate from the bottom reference side. The target above the game names one of the four basic handings, and the two openings show one correct door and one decoy. Move into the correct lane before the wall arrives. Choosing the wrong door or staying in the wall ends the run, and the pace increases after every three correct doors.

LEFT OR RIGHTRead the hinge from your viewpoint

Hinges on your left mean LH or LHR. Hinges on your right mean RH or RHR.

STRAIGHT OR REVERSERead whether the leaf swings toward you

Away from the reference side is straight hand. Toward the reference side is reverse.

MOVE AFTER READINGDo not chase the door arc blindly

Identify the hand first, compare it with the target, and then commit to the left or right lane.

A two-question scan for every gate

  • Where are the hinges? This establishes left hand or right hand.
  • Does the leaf swing toward the reference side? If yes, add reverse.
LH
Hinges left, swing away.
RH
Hinges right, swing away.
LHR
Hinges left, swing toward.
RHR
Hinges right, swing toward.

QUICK EXAMPLE

Target: RHR

  1. Look for the opening with hinges on your right.
  2. Confirm that its leaf swings down toward the bottom reference side.
  3. Move into that lane before the gate reaches the worker.

Right hinges plus a swing toward you equals Right Hand Reverse.

Why runs usually end

  • Reading swing direction before hinge side.
  • Using screen-left without remembering the fixed bottom viewpoint.
  • Moving early and choosing the door that looks more open.
  • Waiting too long after the pace increases.

What the arcade simplifies

  • Only the four basic single-door handings are used.
  • The reference side is always shown from the bottom.
  • Pairs, active leaves, hardware functions, and manufacturer terminology are not simulated.
  • Real ordering still requires the door schedule, hardware set, and supplier confirmation.
