CHOOSE THE HAND

QUICK RULE

Stand on the marked reference side. Hinges left or right set the hand. If the door swings toward you, it is reverse.

Training aid: This trainer uses a common U.S. commercial door-handing convention and explicitly marks the reference side for each problem. Door and hardware conventions can vary by project, manufacturer, and specification. Always verify the project door schedule, hardware set, drawings, and supplier requirements before ordering. DOOR HANDING PRACTICE

Practice LH, RH, LHR, and RHR from plan view.

Door handing is easier when the reference side is clear. Each BidSimp problem marks the reference side, then gives you a clean plan-view wall opening, hinge location, door leaf, and swing arc. Your job is to read the opening and call the handing without guessing.

Hand first, reverse second

From the marked reference side, use the hinge location to determine left hand or right hand. Then decide whether the leaf swings away from you or toward you.

Built for repetition

The reference side and plan orientation change from problem to problem so you practice the relationship instead of memorizing one diagram.
